The song video was originally supposed to be animated, but Britney vetoed the idea. Instead, she suggested that she dress up as a Catholic schoolgirl. On its first day, the song “…Baby One More Time” sold half a million copies and spent two weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It has since gone on to sell over 10 million copies, making it one of the best-selling songs of all time. Britney Spears rose to fame and fortune as a result of her hit single of the same name, which she released before turning 20. However, astronomical fame came at a cost: a Faustian pact. Britney would have to repay the curse at some point.
