Following her father’s hospitalization and his lawyer Andrew M. Wallet’s charges, Britney was committed to a psychiatric facility once more in 2019. This time, the official explanation was that she was stressed out as a result of her father’s illness and near-death experience, but many people suspected the real reason was something darker. In May 2019, Britney Spears claimed that her father pushed her into a mental health facility and forced her to take certain drugs. When her supporters learned of this, they became even more enraged and rallied behind her.

Britney was released from the psychiatric facility soon after and taped a video assuring fans that she was fine. On the other hand, her relationship with her father is as tumultuous as ever. The #FreeBritney movement was boosted by celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, and Cher. Outside of West Hollywood City Hall, fans staged a protest.
