Britney began taking dance lessons at the age of three in Kentwood, Louisiana, where she grew up. She had her local stage debut at the age of five, singing What Child Is This? during her kindergarten graduation. Her parents drove her to dance, gymnastics, voice lessons, and talent shows as a child because she was very ambitious. “I was in my own world…I found out what I’m supposed to do at an early age,” she stated of her childhood desire. At the age of eight, Britney and her mother Lynne traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to audition for a version of the Mickey Mouse Club from the 1990s. Because she was too young, the casting director turned her down, but she was referred to Nancy Carson, a New York talent agency. Carson was so taken with Spears’ voice that he encouraged her to enroll in the Professional Performing Arts School. Lynne and her children immediately moved into an apartment in New York City.

First Professional Role
Britney’s first professional role, when she was 10 years old, was as Tina Denmark’s understudy in the Off-Broadway musical Ruthless! She’s also appeared in commercials and competed on the talent show Star Search. Britney Spears auditioned for The Mickey Mouse Club again around the age of 11 after being rejected the first time and was cast alongside Christina Aguilera, Kerstin Russell, and Ryan Gosling. Ryan Gosling physically taught Britney Spears about birds and bees. He offered her sex education lessons when she inquired about sex! At the Mouse House, Justin Timberlake, a bright young upstart, was also present. Later, I’ll go into greater depth about him. There’s a lot more to it.
