Seat Taken. Bless you!
The most difficult thing in life is deciding where to sit after waiting in a long lunch queue and eventually getting your food. If this happens to you while in Singapore, bring some form of tissue with you as a seat saver when you go to get your lunch. In Singapore, taking ownership of a vacant seat by placing tissues on the table is typical (it even has a name, Chop-ing). Some think it’s impolite, but others think it’s appropriate given the limited time you have for lunch.

Bring On The Uncle
All adults (or anyone considered as an adult by a child) in Singapore are referred to as aunts or uncles. You are not need to be linked to someone or to have siblings. If you exist, you are automatically referred to as a relative. It may be losing touch with today’s age, but in most towns across the country, dump the Mr. and Mrs. and grasp on to aunt and uncle.
