What didn’t work on Lifetime became a Netflix smash hit. After moving from cable to streaming, the thriller series starring Penn Badgley as a bookstore manager/serial killer got a new lease on life. It’s no surprise that Netflix decided to go ahead with a third season after receiving such a positive response online in both its freshman and sophomore seasons. In season three, Badgley and co-star Victoria Pedretti will reprise their roles.

The spooky drama, which premiered last fall, was renewed for a second season. Because the series was renewed as an anthology on Netflix, season two will focus on a completely different story. “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” which is the title of the second season, is based on Henry James’ gothic novella “The Turn of the Screw.”
