Max the ghostbuster
Later, in the playground, I heard Jake bragging to his friends: “Max can see ghosts, I swear!”, leaving them dumbfounded and full of amazement. “He can’t!” one of the boys exclaimed, but Jake confidently nodded his head as if he was absolutely sure that Max had superpowers. I smiled silently, entranced by his imagination; although Max’s behavior was indeed strange, the idea of having a ghost-hunting dog added a fun touch to the whole mystery.

During dinner, Lily couldn’t resist teasing her brother: “So, do you think Max is going to find ghosts tonight?” she asked laughingly. Jake immediately replied: “Hey, you’ll thank him when he saves you, sis!”, drawing a laugh from John, who shook his head in amusement. “Well, Max has some inexplicable talents,” he joked, and between jokes and teasing, curiosity about the dog’s strange behavior remained, but the lightness of the family conversation helped to make the mystery a little less tense.
