Jake joins the dig
Jake found Max digging once again and decided to join in. “I bet we’ll find buried treasure!” he exclaimed, exaggeratedly imitating the dog’s every move, causing everyone to laugh. Even Max seemed to enjoy himself, giving Jake a playful push. Digging together was contagious, bringing joy to our evenings, and watching them I felt closer and closer to unraveling the mystery, without knowing for sure what we might find.

João watched from the kitchen window, his amused smile slowly giving way to a thoughtful expression. “Should we be worried about this?” he finally asked, joining me on the porch. “Maybe it’s time we got to the bottom of it,” he added, beginning to realize that there was more to Max’s actions than we had imagined. The backyard mystery was no longer just an amusing quirk; it now demanded a solution.
